Tommy Anderson knocked in three runs on Tuesday, helping the Fruitport baseball team down Grand Rapids West Catholic 6-2 in the opener of an O-K Blue conference doubleheader.
Anderson hit a two-run double on a full count pitch in the first inning, then added a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Ryan Bosch pitched the win on the mound for Fruitport, scattering three hits over seven innings while striking out 12. The Trojan defense played errorless baseball in the victory.

Fruitport lost the second game 11-3.
Trojans pitcher Trevor Rusnak struck out eight battlers in the losing effort. Jaxon Flynn went 3-for-3 at the plate for Fruitport while Anderson hit a double.
Fruitport, now 8-11 on the season, will complete the three-game series with a game at West Catholic on Thursday.
“The bats started to heat up and we scored some runs,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed. “Thomas was big for us with two doubles and a home run today. Jax is starting to consistently get on base, which is starting to get everyone going. We will look to keep improving and get back to the grind.”
