The Fruitport golf team is trending in the right direction with regionals right around the corner.

The Trojans had four golfers shoot in the 80s on Monday at the O-K Blue conference tournament in one of the team’s best performances of the season.

Fruitport shot a team score of 344, which was good for sixth place against some extremely good competition from other O-K Blue schools. Hudsonville Unity Christian took first place with a 305.

Andres Cribley-Cotto and Chase Sullivan.

Chase Sullivan led the Trojans with an 83 score, good for 15th place individually in the tournament. Andres Cribley-Cotto shot an 85 (19th place), followed by Hayden Winskas (87, 24th), Tyler Carlson (89, 31st), Ryan Sloan (93, 35th) and Cole Woodard (97, 39th).

“Overall I was really pleased with our effort today,” said Fruitport Coach Aaron Gregory. “Any time you have four players shoot in the 80s in a high school match is a pretty good day. We had a couple players shoot their lowest 18-hole score in a high school match today.

“We have shown consistent improvement throughout the season. I look forward to seeing how we play next week in the regional.”
