The Fruitport baseball team suffered through a pair of tough one-run losses on Saturday at the Holland West Ottawa Invitational.

The Trojans lost the first game 2-1 to West Ottawa, which won on a walk-off double in the seventh inning.

Dillon McWilliams pitched will for Fruitport, tossing 6 2/3 innings, scattering give hits and striking out six. Christian Kennedy had a hit for the Trojans.

Fruitport lost the second game 4-3 to Northview. The extra-inning affair went to the ninth inning, when Northview won on a two-out walk-off single.

Tommy Anderson pitched 4 2/3 innings with no hits while striking out four for Fruitport. Jax Flynn pitched four innings in relief.

Ryan Bosch led the Trojans as the plate with three hits, including a home run.

“We had a couple tough losses,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed. “We will be better because we’ve gone through it. Baseball has a way of leveling out if you keep grinding. Our men know we are right there.”
