Reeths-Puffer’s baseball team continued its perfect start to the season Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of Grand Rapids Union in O-K Green conference play. The Rockets won by scores of 8-0 and 12-2. 

Jaxson Whitaker started the opener and struck out nine batters in four innings. Quinn Alderink finished the shutout in relief, striking out four batters over three innings. 

David Wilhelm had a pair of hits to lead the Rockets at the plate in Game 1. Trent Reichert had a single and an RBI.

The second game lasted just five innings as R-P pulled out to a 10-run lead. 

Kyle Schlaff got the start in Game 2 and tossed two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Whitaker pitched the final two innings, allowing zero runs and striking out four. 

Reichert led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI. Whitaker added a pair of hits as well. 

Reeths-Puffer is now a perfect 9-0 on the season. The Rockets finish a three game series with Union this Thursday. 

Ludington, Montague split doubleheader

GAME 1 – MONTAGUE 10, LUDINGTON 5

Strong pitching leads Spring Lake to sweep of Allendale
