The Fruitport girls track team clearly has some good distances runners.
Two Trojans took first place in distance events on Wednesday, and a teammate won a hurdle event, when Fruitport hosted Allendale in the opening meet of the season.
On the scoreboard, Allendale walked away with a 108-29 victory, but the three winners provided some success for the Trojans.
Junior Tatum Dykstra won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:54.90, ahead of Allendale’s Ava Buhlman (6:02.30).
Sophomore Valerie Pollock won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:34.0, beating Allendale’s Addison Noble (14.10.0).
Sophomore Julia Smith captured first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.02, beating out Allendale’s Ashley Kinney (19.60).
Two Trojans took second place in their events, including Tresa Dykstra (200-meter dash and 400-meter dash), and Smith (300-meter hurdles and long jump).
The Trojan girls and boys teams will host the Fruitport Invitational on Friday.
