Sophomore Ryan Bosch pitched a complete game six-hitter with 12 strikeouts and only one walk, leading the Fruitport baseball team to a 6-1 victory over Coopersville on Tuesday in O-K Blue conference action.
Bosch also knocked in Fruitport’s first run in the first inning. The Trojans added four more in the fourth with Trevor Rusnak, Ricky Wiggins and Jax Flynn all producing RBIs.
Fruitport totaled nine hits in the game with Christian Kennedy and Tommy Anderson leading with the way with two apiece.
[1]Coopersville got even in Game 2 with a 4-0 victory.
Avery Lambers led Fruitport with two hits in the loss. Kennedy started on the mound for the Trojans while Flynn pitched an inning of relief.
“Our pitching was solid once again and we played pretty clean on the defensive side as well,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed. “Our hitting and plate approach was a lot better today and continues to improve every game.”
The Trojans are now 4-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play. They will visit Coopersville for a single game on Friday before playing Reeths-Puffer under the lights on Friday night at Marsh Field.
