Fruitport sophomore Vincent Pollock had a lot of success on the track on Tuesday.

Pollock won the 3,200-meter run (10:56.55), finished third in the 1,600-meter run, and was part of the 4X800-meter relay team that won first place (9:15.49), along with Ethan Horan, Ryder Merkins and Levi Bol.

Several teammates also recorded strong performances in the Trojans’ hard-fought 75-62 loss to Hudsonville Unity Christian in an O-K Blue conference meet.

The 1,600-meter run was particularly successful for Fruitport, which took all three top spots. Levi Glynn finished first (5:23.70), Levi Bol was second and Pollock was third.

While the Trojans did well in a lot of events, Coach Tim McKeeby believes the best is yet to come for his team.

“One of my mottos for the season is a quote from (famous basketball coach) Pat Summitt – ‘Success is a project that is always under construction,’” McKeeby said. “This quote sums up our progress so far. We have a lot of talent on the team and are figuring out where the pieces of the puzzles fit.”
