Julia Smith provided a highlight for the Fruitport girls track team on Tuesday, winning the 100-meter hurdles in an O-K Blue conference meet against Hudsonville Unity Christian on the road.

Smith finished with a time of 18.31, ahead of Unity Christian’s Chelsea Riemersma, who turned in a time of 18.67.

Fruitport’s 400-meter relay team – comprised of Tatum Dykstra, Tresa Dykstra, Brooke Sweet and Lauren Lee – won its event with a time of 4:53.19.

Smith and her teammates on Fruitport’s 100-meter relay team – Emma Fox, Jada Wright and Ludovica Biasin – also had a good outing, taking second place with a time of 58.49.

The 200-meter relay squad of Biasin, Tresa Dykstra, Wright and Sabine Perkin also finished second with a time of 2:11.33.

Several other Trojans also posted second-place finishes, including Tresa Dykstra (400-meter run), Lee (800-meter run), Tatum Dykstra (1,600-meter run), and Valerie Pollock (3,200-meter run).

The Trojans lost the meet to Unity Christian 110-26.
