After suffering two losses to Hudsonville Unity Christian on Tuesday, the Fruitport baseball team turned the tables on the Eagles on Thursday, posting an exciting 4-3 victory on their home field in O-K Blue Conference play.
The Trojans came out swinging right away, with Ryan Bosch hitting a two-out double in the bottom of the first inning and Christian Kennedy knocking him in with a single.

Ricky Wiggins led off the second inning with a double, then scored on a double by Tommy Anderson. Anderson scored on Trevor Rusnak’s single, making the score 3-0.
Unity Christian came back to tie the game, but Bosch put the victory away for the Trojans with a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Anderson and Bosch both had multi-hit games. The Trojans, who have struggled on offense for much of the season so far, totaled 10 hits in the contest.

Freshman Avery Lambers pitched a great game for Fruitport, going the distance while scattering five hits with nine strikeouts and only one walk.
“It was good to see our boys aggressive in the box and put some good swings on pitches,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed. “We need to carry it over into next week. If we can do that we will start rolling. We got another great outing on the mound from our pitching staff.”
Fruitport is now 3-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The Trojans will return to action on Tuesday with a home game against Coopersville.
