The Fruitport softball team had a rough day on Tuesday, dropping a pair of road conference games to Hudsonville Unity Christian.

In the opener, Unity Christian took an early lead with a homer in the first inning and went on to win 16-1.

Overall Unity Christian had 16 hits. Brooklynn Russell scored the Trojans’ only run on an RBI single by Olove Staal in the fourth inning.

Fruitport fell 12-2 in Game 2.

The Trojans got their two runs in the first inning on singles by Russell, Marlee Veltman and Maddie Kohnke. The game was tied 2-2 in the fourth inning when Unity Christian took control.

Fruitport is now 1-6 overall and 0-4 in O-K Blue play. The Trojans will return to action with a pair of games at Holton on Friday.
