The Under-18 Team USA squad had revenge on their mind on Saturday night when they hosted the Lumberjacks after taking a loss last night in Muskegon.

They got their revenge by scoring two goals in the opening period, then adding four more in both the second and third stanzas to beat the Lumberjacks 10-0 in Plymouth.

The Lumberjacks ended their two-game winning streak and fell to 22-25-3 on the season. They are still 10 points behind Cedar Rapids for the last playoff spot with just 12 games remaining.

Muskegon will have an opportunity to claw back into the race next weekend when they host the sixth-place RoughRiders on Friday and Saturday night at Trinity Health Arena.

Team USA opened the scoring with two goals in a span of 21 seconds as Oliver Moore scored at the 10:34 mark of the opening period, then Beckett Hendrickson added a tally 10:55 into the frame.

Gabe Perreault (1:10), Cole Eiserman (6:38), Ryan Leonard (12:25) and Will Smith (17:17) each added second period goals to give Team USA a commanding 6-0 lead heading into the final stanza.

Smith added his second goal of the contest at the 3:39 mark of the third period, then Salvatore Guzzo added a tally 32 seconds later to give the Under-18’s an 8-0 lead.

Eiserman scored his second of the game 5:48 into the final period, then Kai Janviriya closed out the scoring at the 8:24 mark.

The Lumberjacks were outshot by a 39-21 margin as Raythan Robbins stopped 29-of 39 shots.

Both teams struggled on their special teams as the Jacks failed to score on five power plays while Team USA went 0-for-4.
