The Hart girls basketball team continued to dominate on Tuesday, downing Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian 49-29 in the opening game of the Division 3 regional tournament at Shelby High School.
The Pirates actually trailed 9-8 after one quarter, then outscored the Mustangs 11-3 in the second quarter and led 19-12 at halftime.
Hart nailed down the victory with a 14-11 edge in the third quarter and a 16-6 advantage in the fourth.
Abby Hicks paced the Pirates with 18 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and three assists. Addi Hovey added 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, Aspen Boutell had 11 points and five boards and Mariana VanAgmael chipped in five points and four rebounds.
Hart now heads to a major showdown against Kent City, a Division 3 state finalist last year, in Thursday night’s regional championship game at Shelby.
