The Fruitport girls soccer team displayed its offensive depth on Tuesday when eight different players scored in an 8-0 victory over Muskegon Catholic Central.
Mallory Smith, Kayla Kolberg, Alexa Hanson-Wilbur, Emerson VerMerris, Courtney Mayette, Raena Norbotten, Kendal Kolberg and Aris Ogden all found the net for the Trojans.
Mikayla Belasco helped power the offense with three assists while Reese Jacobs added two.
Fruitport goalie Riley Kettel collected the shutout win. Lauren Riedel, Kenzie Pate, Joslyn Baldwin and McKenzie Beardsley were credited with strong defensive play for the Trojans.

“We came into the game wanting to attack the outside space and get our outside mids and defensive backs more engaged,” said Fruitport Coach Chris Belasco. “I think we accomplished that with four of our goals coming from those outside players. The defense was outstanding today with seven different players contributing to Riley Kettel’s first shutout of the season.
“I’m very excited about the upcoming season. When we get back from the break we start conference games, so we will be tested right away.”
