Fruitport boys basketball team hangs tough with first-place Hamilton for a quarter, then falls 73-39

After playing first-place Hamilton close for one quarter on Tuesday, the Fruitport boys basketball team fell victim to a three-point aerial attack and lost 73-39 on the road in an O-K Blue conference battle.

Hamilton only led 18-17 after one quarter, but then opened a 33-22 lead by halftime and a 56-31 advantage after three quarters.

The hosts took control by hitting 14 three-pointers in the game.

Bode Anspach paced Fruitport with 20 points while eight other players also made the score sheet.

“Hamilton is an excellent team and played well tonight,” said Fruitport Coach Steve Erny. “We will bounce back.”

The Trojans are now 11-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play. They will visit Grand Rapids West Catholic on Friday and Spring Lake on Tuesday.    [2]
