The Kent City boys basketball survived a late rally by Montague to come out on top in an exciting non-conference battling Tuesday night, winning 56-53.

Montague knocked down back-to-back threes to cut the lead to just a point with under 30 seconds remaining, then sent Kent City to the free throw line. The Eagles missed both shots, but got an offensive rebound and were fouled again. Will Harrison then stepped to the line and hit both shots to make it a three-point game.

Kent City stole a pass up the floor before Montague could get a shot to tie the game and sealed the win.

The Eagles led 16-11 after one quarter, 28-24 at halftime and 41-34 heading to the fourth.

Kyler Larson led Kent City with 17 points and four steals. Jaret Jaramillo added 15 points and five steals.

Braeden Johnston led Montague with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Owen Patresen and Owen Raeth scored 11 points each for the Wildcats.

Kent City is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Montague is 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference action.
