The Ludington girls basketball team closed out the game strong on Thursday night resulting in a 39-36 victory over Oakridge in a West Michigan Conference contest.

The Orioles were led by Emma McKinley with 11 points while Jennah Skiba added eight. Olivia Lynn chipped in with five.

Ludington led 7-4 at the end of the first quarter and 18-14 at halftime. The Eagles took a 25-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter before the Orioles closed the game out with a 15-11 run.

Anna Lundquist paced Oakridge with 15 points, six steals, 13 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Kaelinn Jozsa chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and two assists.

The Eagles are now 1-2 on the season and 0-2 in league play.

Balance scoring leads North Muskegon to easy win over Hesperia, 41-20

The Norse led 10-5 after the opening quarter 28-8 at halftime and 31-11 heading into the final stanza.

Grace Philpot and Abbie Wiegers led North Muskegon with eight points each while Kaylee Martin and Georgia Skujins each scored seven.

Francine Vinson pulled down nine rebounds for the Norse and Martin had seven rebound, seven steals and six assists.

The Panthers were led by Samy Logana with 12 points.

Fruitport Calvary struggles defensively in a 59-27 loss to Zion Christian

It was a rough night for the Eagles who trailed 11-5 after the first quarter, 25-18 at halftime, and 49-19 through three quarters of play.

Mckena Wilson led Fruitport Calvary with 16 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.

The Eagles are now 0-3 overall on the season.

The Tigers led 10-4 after the first quarter, 12-9 at halftime and 22-14 heading into the fourth quarter.

Mason County Central plows past Holton 46-27 in a conference contest

The Spartans led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, 24-12 at halftime and 42-18 through three quarters.

Wren Nelson led Mason County Central with 10 points and six rebounds while Grace Weinert added eight points, four assists and four steals.

Mallory Miller, Charlie Banks and Eva Hradel each scored six points.
