The Mona Shores boys basketball team started the season off on the right foot Tuesday, winning its opening game against West Ottawa 63-58.

Jordan Bledsoe led the effort with 19 points and five rebounds. Jonathan Pittman had a big game as well, recording a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. JT Foster chipped in eight points.

The Sailors led 25-12 after the first quarter and rode the early edge the rest of the game. Mona Shores led 35-27 at halftime and 52-40 after three quarters. West Ottawa won the final quarter 18-11, but Mona Shores held on for the five-point win.

Mona Shores starts the season 1-0 with the win.
