The Oakridge girls basketball team picked up its first conference win of the season with a win over Fremont Tuesday night. Oakridge pulled away after a tight first half to win 43-29. 

The Eagles held a slim 11-10 lead after one quarter and extended that to 19-16 heading to halftime. Oakridge outscored Fremont 5-2 in a low-scoring third to lead 24-18 heading to the fourth, then grabbed a 19-11 edge in the final quarter.

Anna Lundquist had a big game for the Eagles, finishing with 14 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and five blocks. Destyni Lane added 13 points and eight steals while Mallori Whipple scored seven. 

Olivia Hansen led Fremont with six points and Khaila Noordyk grabbed 10 rebounds for the Packers.

Oakridge is now 2-2 overall and 1-2 in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division play. Fremont falls to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Whitehall comes back for 47-41 victory over Manistee

Whitehall trailed 13-6 after one quarter and 23-14 at halftime before using a big second half to claim a conference win. The Vikings clawed back within 30-28 heading to the fourth and used a 19-11 edge in the final quarter to get the win.

Lola Buckner led the Whitehall effort with 16 points and five steals. Autumn Ferris added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. 

Whitehall improves to 2-2 overall, and 1-1 in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division.

Ludington breezes past Montague 49-18

The Orioles jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back. Ludington led 11-5 after one quarter, 26-7 at the half and 35-11 through three.

Keelyn Laird led the Orioles with 14 points. Olivia Lynn also reached double figures with 10. Emma McKinley and Annie Kline both scored eight for the Orioles.

Ella King had six points and four rebounds to lead Montague, while Emma Petersen had five points and four rebounds.

Ludington improves to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division. Montague falls to 3-2 overall, and 2-1 in conference.

Zaverl leads Shelby past North Muskegon

Shelby scored a West Michigan Conference Rivers Division win over North Muskegon, 40-28, Tuesday night.

Shelby led 14-6 after one quarter, 26-16 at halftime and 33-22 after three quarters. 

Leading the Tigers was Kendall Zaverl, who had a team-high 17 points and seven rebounds. Molli Schultz was in double figures for the Tigers with 10 points. 

Grace Philpot led North Muskegon with 12 points, followed by Francine Vinson with nine.

Shelby improves to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. North Muskegon falls to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference.

Mason County girls move to 4-0

Mason County Central dominated White Cloud 57-18 Tuesday night to stay unbeaten on the year. The Spartans led 14-5 after one quarter, 30-8 at halftime and 44-13 after three quarters.

Wren Nelson led the way for MCC with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Grace Weinert added 11 points, Evangeline Hradel had nine and Peyton Welch scored eight.

The Spartans are now 4-0 overall, including 2-0 in conference play.

Muskegon Catholic tops Muskegon Heights 53-24

The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a win over Muskegon Heights. MCC led 16-6 after one, 34-13 at halftime and 46-15 after three quarters. 

Claire LaVigne scored 16 points to lead MCC followed by Carrie Ladd with 13. Mallory Rich grabbed 10 rebounds for the Crusaders.

Muskegon Catholic is now 3-2 on the season.

Hart dominates Ravenna to move to 3-0

An explosive first quarter allowed Hart to cruise to a win over Ravenna Tuesday night. The Pirates led 30-4 after one quarter, 43-6 at halftime and 57-8 after three quarters.

Addi Hovey led Hart with 18 points, including 14 in the first quarter. She finished with eight rebounds and six steals as well. Abby Hicks had a double-double with 14 points and 11 steals and Mariana VanAgtmael had eight points.

The Pirates are now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division.

Spring Lake beats Grant 48-40

Ella Andree led Spring Lake with 15 points, while Alexa Carter posted a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds. Ellie Wrona scored eight points for the Lakers and Brooke Bolthouse chipped in six. 

The Lakers led 12-7 after one quarter, 24-18 at halftime and 33-29 at the end of three.

Spring Lake is now 3-1 on the season.
