Girls basketball roundup: Kent City hands Hart first loss, Mona Shores tops Montague

Kent City came out on top in a match up between two of the top girls basketball teams in the area, beating Hart 58-52 on Tuesday night. 

Kent City started the game hot, leading 15-6 after one quarter and 25-16 at halftime. Hart rallied in the third quarter to take a 42-37 lead heading to the final quarter.

Kent City responded with a run of their own and grabbed a 21-10 edge in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Madelyn Geers led Kent City with 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Lexie Bowers added 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Hailey Kamphuis scored 11 for the Eagles.

Addi Hovey led Hart with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Aspen Boutell added 13 points for the Pirates, while Abby Hicks totalled 11 points, 14 rebounds and five assists.

Kent City improves to 4-2 on the season, including 2-0 in conference play. The loss is the first this season for Hart as the Pirates fall to 4-1.
