he Muskegon Catholic Central volleyball team battled hard for a three-set victory over Fruitport Calvary Christian on Friday and captured a Division 4 district championship.

The Crusaders beat the Eagles by scores of 26-24, 25-19, 28-26.

MCC, now 16-18 on the season, moves on to the regional semifinals on Tuesday at McBain Northern Michigan Christian High School. The Crusaders will play the winner of the Vestaburg district at 7 p.m.

Claire LaVigne had her usual big night for the Crusaders, totaling 11 kills, 16 assists and two aces. She was also huge in the defensive effort, collecting 24 digs and a block.

Natalie Rich served six aces for MCC, Lindsay Ladd had six kills and Claire Carlton added five. Elaina LaGuire and Aubrey Shepherd had 16 and 11 digs, respectively.
