Whitehall sets up clash with Fruitport by defeating Big Rapids 42-12 in opening round of Division 4 playoffs

The Whitehall football team opened up the Division 4 playoffs with a 42-12 victory over Big Rapids on Friday night.

With the victory, Whitehall improves to 10-0 on the season and will next host Fruitport in the Division 4 district final.

The Vikings took a 7-0 lead Friday night when Jackson Cook scored on a two-yard touchdown with 6:45 left in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Kyle Stratton threw a 11-yard touchdown to Ca’Mar Ready and a 49-yard touchdown pass to Trannon Aylor to give Whitehall a 21-0 halftime lead.

Aylor returned the opening kick of the second half 93 yards to extend the lead to 28-0.

Cook broke loose for a 19-yard touchdown to make the score 35-0 before a late third quarter touchdown by Big Rapids made the score 35-6 after three quarters.

Following a Big Rapids touchdown, Stratton found Aylor for a 42-yard touchdown with 7:47 left which made the final score 42-12.

Stratton finished 6-of-11 for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Cook totaled 77 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.

Aylor totaled 91 yards and two touchdowns on two catches. The defense was led by Jaiden Altgilbers, who finished with eight tackles.
