The Ludington boys soccer team won their first ever West Michigan Conference title on Wednesday after defeating Shelby by a 3-0 margin.
Parker Wendt, Spencer Holmes and Steven Stidham each scored a goal for the Orioles, while Holmes, Connor Wendt and Nate Wagner chipped in with assists.
Ludington’s goalkeeper Connor Rudzki posted his 11th shutout of the season.
Ludington improved to 18-1-1 on the season and 10-0 in league play.
Three different players score for North Muskegon in a shutout victory over Montague
The North Muskegon boys soccer team blanked Montague 3-0 on Wednesday in a West Michigan Conference soccer contest.
Brandon Winter, Gabe Lenius and Ben Hoffer each scored goals for the Norse, while Gabe Lenius, Carter Muzzy and Jack Bahorski each had assists.
Leighton Hunt and Chase Zizak each spent time in net for North Muskegon, combining to stop five shots on net.
The Norse improved to 7-10-3 on the season and 5-3-2 in conference action.
Fremont avoids shutout but falls to Manistee in a WMC boys soccer contest
The Fremont boys soccer team fell short at home against Manistee by a 5-1 margin on Wednesday in a West Michigan Conference contest.
The Packers lone goal was scored by Deagan Klimek with eight minutes remaining in regulation.
Luke Smith, Rafael Goncalves, Jacob Scharp, Jack O’Donnell and Robin Yann each scored for Manistee.
Fremont goalkeeper Ben Mellema stopped 10 shots in net, while Caleb Vissia had three saves in goal for the Packers in relief.
The Packers are now 4-13-1 on the season and 1-10 in conference play.
Fruitport advances to O-K Blue Conference title game with victory over Unity Christian
The Trojans outlasted top-seeded Unity Christian 2-1 on Wednesday after outscoring them in penalty kicks by a 4-3 margin.
Fruitport trailed 1-0 at halftime, then tied the game up with a goal by Brady Brown that was assisted by Jackson Rebone.
Both teams failed to scored during the remainder of regulation and overtime.
Rebone, Bode Anspach, Noah Fehler and Sean Gieske each connected for the Trojans on their penalty shots, while goalkeeper Justin Laus stopped Unity Christian’s sixth shooter to seal the victory.
The Trojans will face Holland Christian for the O-K Blue Conference tournament championship.
