Whitehall picked up a West Michigan Conference victory over Orchard View Tuesday night. The Vikings won the first set 25-13, but dropped the second set 25-21. Whitehall recovered to take the third set 25-10 and the fourth 25-9.

Arriana Black and Kayla Mulder led the Whitehall attack, both tallying 10 kills. Black led the team with seven aces, followed closely by Mulder with six.

Bella Fogus added seven kills, Chase Baker had five aces and Sydney Shepherd totaled 37 assists. 

Megan Lester had 14 digs to lead the team, while Black added 10.

Whitehall is now 12-14-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play. 

Rockets win conference tournament opener

Reeths-Puffer swept Holland in the first round of the O-K Green conference tournament Tuesday night. The Rockets won by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-21.

Madisyn Dykema led the offense with 13 kills, followed by Sophia Hekkema with eight and Sophia Carradin with four. Lauren Nelson led the team in aces with seven, while Emme Buzzell and Dykema had three each.

Nelson added four blocks for the Rockets. Hekkema had three digs. 

Reeths-Puffers is now 14-14-2 on the season.

Shores dominates Wyoming

The Mona Shores volleyball opened the O-K Green tournament in dominating fashion Tuesday, topping Wyoming in three sets. Mona Shores won by scores of 25-13, 25-2 and 25-4.

Grace Allen led the team with nine kills, followed by Ava Dunn with seven and Jersey VanderWall with six. Kyann Hellmann had 23 assists and five aces for the Sailors, while Izzy Sturtevant led with seven aces.

Sturtevant also collected 10 digs on the night, while VanderWall had five blocks. 

Mona Shores is now 19-9 on the season and 6-2 in the O-K Green. 

Crusaders top Fruitport Calvary

Muskegon Catholic Central overcame losing the first set to pick up a win over Fruitport Calvary Christian on Tuesday. The Eagles took the first set 25-19 before MCC rattled off three straight wins by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-23. 

Leading the Crusaders’ attack was Claire Carlton, who put up eight kills on the night. Natalie Rich contributed five kills and five aces, while Claire LaVigne had 17 assists, six aces and three kills.  Aubrey Shepherd with a team-high seven aces.

Lavigne also led the team in digs with 19, followed by Elana LaGuire with six of her own.

The Crusaders improve to 7-10 overall, and are 3-2 in conference play. 

Trojans drop tournament opener

Fruitport fell to Coopersville in the first round of the O-K Blue conference tournament Tuesday night, falling in three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-12. 

Leading the Trojans on offense were Sadie Haase with nine kills, Tara Sweet with three aces and Gracelynn Olson with 11 assists. Auebre Johnson also had four kills to round out the Fruitport attack.

On the other side of the net, Lauren Riedel had 13 digs to lead the Trojans, while Sweet had seven and Haase had five.

Fruitport falls to 10-20 overall on the season.

Wildcats sweep Oakridge

Montague picked up a straight-sets win over Oakridge in West Michigan Conference volleyball action Tuesday. The Wildcats won by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-23. 

Anastasia Trevino led Montague with 13 kills, followed by Britta Johnson with 10 and Laura Borras with seven. Jaelyn Sundberg had 38 assists for Montague. 

Alissa Wynn led the Wildcat defense with 20 digs, followed by Borras with 11.

Madison Babinec had seven kills to lead Oakridge. Kaelinn Jozsa added five and Lily Blackburn had four. Gracie Willea had 13 assists. Babinec led the defense with three blocks, while Blackburn and Willea had two each. 

Montague is now 16-20-1 on the season and 5-1 in WMC Lakes play. Oakridge is 16-15-1 and 2-3 in the conference.

Spring Lake falls to Holland Christian

The Spring Lake volleyball team fell short in an O-K Blue tournament match Tuesday night, losing in four sets. Spring Lake claimed the first set 27-25 before dropping the final three to Holland Christian by scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-15.

Kalli Lewkowski led the Lakers with nine kills, followed by Ella Andree with four. Brooke Bolthouse led with three aces.

Bolthouse also led the defense with a team-high 18 digs. Andree contributed 15 digs. Rylee Sabo led the team in blocks with 10, while Ella Gapczynski had five.

Spring Lake falls to 20-11 on the season and 1-7 in the O-K Blue. 

Kent City sweeps Chippewa Hills

The Kent City volleyball team took down Chippewa Hills in Central State Activities Association action Tuesday night, sweeping the match with scores of 25-11, 25-9 and 25-13.

Lexie Bowers led the Eagle attack with eight kills. Also contributing for the Eagles were Kaden Perkins with six aces, Jacee Hoffman with 18 assists and Ayzlyn Scheuneman with five assists.

On defense, Madelyn Geers led the Eagles with nine digs and a block.

Kent City improves to 26-4-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

Norse top Ravenna in four sets

North Muskegon picked up a West Michigan Conference Rivers division win over Ravenna Tuesday night. The Norse won by scores of 25-11, 23-25, 25-13 and 25-13. 

Natalie Pannucci had a big night to lead North Muskegon, totaling 20 digs, 14 kills, four aces and three blocks. 

Fia Lindsay added 10 kills for the Norse, followed by Joslynne Bogner with seven and Allie Jensen with six. Sami Baker led the team with 37 assists. Jolie Fellows had four aces, while Jensen had three and Baker added two.

Defensively, Jaley Schultz led North Muskegon with 21 digs. Baker had 11 and Jensen added nine. Lindsay had a team-high four blocks and Bogner added three.  

North Muskegon is now 15-9-4 and 5-1 in conference play.
