The Orchard View soccer team hasn’t had a lot of luck this season, but the Cardinals opened the postseason on Thursday with an impressive 5-1 win over Belding in the first round on districts.
Orchard View was led by senior Korbin Tenbrink and junior Corbin Russell, who had two goals apiece. Freshman Xander Randall added the other goal for the Cardinals.
Tenbrink, Russell, and Randall each had assists.
Goalie Jayden Bilek led the Cardinals in net with four saves on five shots. OV outshot Belding 14-5.
The Cardinals, 2-15-1 on the season, will play Oakridge next Wednesday in the semifinals at home at 4:30 pm.

Guillermo Ortega led the Pirates with four goals and two assists. Bryce Jorissen, Adan Cruz and Adrian Belmares added a goal each.
Tony Rayo and Tyler Larios-Mendez chipped in with two assists apiece for the Pirates.
The Hart defense did not allow a single shot on goal all game, making the work easy for goalie Kyan Clark.
The Pirates,12-6-2, will visit Montague in the district semifinals on Monday at 4 p.m.
Shelby squeaks out a 3-2 victory over Fremont
Fremont opened the scoring 20 seconds in on a goal by Killian Prewitt, assisted by Gonzalo Garcia. Shelby scored with 20 minutes left in the first half to make it a tied game going into halftime.
Shelby scored 10 minutes into the second half and then again with 15 minutes remaining to take a 3-1 lead. The Packers added a goal with two minutes left on Prewitt’s second of the game, but Shelby held on for the win.
Shelby outshot Fremont 12-5.
The Packers ended their season with a 4-15-1 record. Shelby, 11-9, will play Manistee in the district semifinals on Monday.
