The Montague football team improved to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division play with a 20-0 win over Fremont on Friday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, Montague got on the board with 9:54 remaining in the second quarter when Chase Gowell found Isaiah Atchison for an eight-yard touchdown pass, giving the Wildcats a 6-0 lead.
Austin Cook scored on a one-yard touchdown later in the quarter to give Montague a 13-0 halftime lead.
Cook once again punched in a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Wildcats a 20-0 lead which was ultimately the final.
Cook led Montague with 42 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries while Gowell was 7-of-7 passing for 64 yards and one touchdown.
Owen Petersen led the receivers with 41 yards on four recpetions.
Rodney Brassfield had a massive night on defense with 16.5 tackles including three tackles for loss while Silas Jancek totaled 12.5 tackles.
Montague will next travel to Manistee while Fremont falls to 4-3 overall and will next host Whitehall.
