Mona Shores volleyball team stuns powerful Zeeland East 3-0 in O-K Green tournament title match

The Mona Shores volleyball team didn’t have much luck against powerful Zeeland East in the regular season, losing in three straight sets.

But the Sailors turned the tables on Tuesday, rising up and stunning the Chix 3-0 in the championship match of the O-K Green conference tournament at Zeeland East High School.

The set scores were 25-17, 26-24, 25-18.

“Our word for this year has been believe, and the girls embodied what it means to believe in their team and in themselves,” said Mona Shores coach Kathy Hellman, whose team finished third in the regular season conference standings, while Zeeland East finished first.
