The Grand Haven football team fell short of O-K Red conference rival Caledonia on Friday night as the Buccaneers fell 47-12.

Grand Haven got out to a solid start, hanging with the state-ranked Fighting Scots through one quarter. Quarterback Xzavier Rodriguez tossed two touchdown passes — a 37-yard pass to William Korenstra and a 45-yard pass to Alex Dixon, in the opening quarter. 

Although Grand Haven trailed just 14-12 after the first quarter, the Fighting Scots went on to score 33 unanswered to end the game 47-12.

Rodriguez had a solid night for the Bucs in the loss, throwing for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 12-of-27 passing. Korenstra led the team in receiving with 64 yards and a score on three receptions. Leading the Grand Haven ground game was Lance Poole, who ran for 49 yards on just three carries.

On defense, Dylan Cummings led the team with eight tackles, including two for loss.

Grand Haven falls to 1-6 overall, and 0-5 in the O-K Red.
