Oakridge caps off the regular season in style with a 45-7 victory over conference rival Montague

The Oakridge football team warmed up for its annual playoff run with a 45-7 victory over Montague on Friday in a West Michigan Conference Lakes Division clash.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 47-yard touchdown pass from Matt Danicek to Chris Knapp, and the two-point conversion made the score 8-0.

Danicek hit Ty Maitland with a 15-yard scoring pass in the second quarter and another conversion put Oakridge up 16-0.

Trever Jones ran in a five-yard score late in the second quarter and the Eagles went to halftime with a 24-0 lead.

Jones added a seven-yard TD run in the third quarter and Danicek threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Knapp.

Danicek had a six-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.

Montague got on the scoreboard with a five-yard run by Paul Olson with 3:0-1 left in the game.

Danicek completed 11 of 20 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed 10 times for 82 yards and another score.

Jones gained 73 yards on 14 carries and scored twice. Evan Miller led the Eagles receivers with three catches for 56 yards while Knapp had two receptions for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

Riley Bean and Jullian Primmer each had eight tackles for Oakridge.

Montague quarterback Chase Gowell completed 10 of 26 passes for 113 yards.

Oakridge, which finished the regular season with an 8-1 record, will now wait to find out its first-round playoff opponent.

Montague finished the season with a 3-6 record. [2]
