The Whitehall football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 41-30 road victory over Hastings on Thursday night.

Trailing 8-0 in the first quarter, the Vikings cut the deficit to 8-7 when Jackson Cook punched in a two-yard run with 3:37 remaining in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Kyle Stratton found Trannon Aylor for a 46-yard touchdown pass to give Whitehall a 14-8 lead with 11:17 left.

After Hastings took a 16-14 lead, Malcom Earvin scored on a 15-yard run to put Whitehall back ahead 21-16 with 6:51 left in the second quarter.

Hastings once again responded, taking a 24-21 lead with 2:02 left in the opening half.

Then with just 17 seconds left in the second quarter, Stratton found Nate Bolley for an 18-yard touchdown pass, giving the Vikings a 28-24 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Stratton punched in a one-yard touchdown run and found Bolley for a 34-yard touchdown pass to give Whitehall a 41-21 lead after three quarters.

Hastings scored the lone touchdown of the fourth quarter.

Stratton finished 10-for-13 passing for 197 yards and three touchdowns while also totaling 54 yards rushing and one score.

Cook paced the Whitehall running attack with 63 yards and one touchdown while Aylor totaled 94 yards and one touchdown on three receptions.

Cook also led the defensive attack with 7.5 tackles, including 1.5 for losses, while Bolley added an interception.

Whitehall will host Alpena in a non-conference clash next week.
