Mona Shores got off to a hot start and held on for a conference win against Wyoming Tuesday night. The Sailors scored three times in the first half and won 3-2.
Mona Shores got the scoring started just seconds into the game. Dan VanderPloeg kicked off the game with a pass to Antonio Lewis, who flew past two defenders to score just eight seconds in.
Just minutes after Wyoming tied the game with a goal with 22:31 left in the half, Lewis and VanderPloeg connected for another score. Lewis assisted VanderPloeg on a bicycle kick goal to put the Sailors back up, 2-1.
Kaden Pulaski added a goal with 2:42 left in the first half, assisted by Vincenzo Padilla, to put Mona Shores up 3-1 heading to the break.
Wyoming scored with 1:45 to play to get within one, but the Sailors held on for the 3-2 win. Kaden Semlow and Dillon Brady split time in the net, each playing one half.
Muskegon falls to Zeeland East
The Big Reds lost to state-ranked Zeeland East 8-0 in OK Green action Tuesday night. The Chix, ranked No. 13 in Division 2, led 6-0 by halftime. They went up 8-0 with 24 minutes to play, ending the game.
