The Montague volleyball team posted a 2-0 record in a three-team meet at Shelby on Thursday night.

The Wildcats defeated Shelby 19-25, 25-18, 15-7; and Newago 25-7, 25-10.

Leading the Wildcat attack was Anastasia Trevino, who posted 21 kills, followed by Laura Borras with 14. Jacy Arrigotti and Maizie Collins led the team in aces with three each, while Jaelyn Sundberg totaled 54 assists on the night.

On the defensive side of the net, Alissa Wynn notched a team leading 17 digs, followed by Collins with 13, Jordan Netcott with 11 and Sundberg with 10. Trevino led the team in blocks with two.

Montague moves to 5-9 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Whitehall goes 2-1 at Ludington meet

The Whitehall volleyball team posted a solid 2-1 record at the Ludington quad on Thursday night.

The Vikings defeated Fremont 25-18, 25-23 and Big Rapids 25-22, 21-25, 15-5 before falling to Ludington 16-25, 18-25.

Leading the Vikings was Kayla Mulder with 19 kills while Caydence King and Bri Hamann had 18 and 17, respectively. Arianna Black led the team in aces with five, while King posted four. Sydney Shepherd also had an impressive night with 90 total assists.

On defense, Chase Baker led the Vikings with 24 digs with Bella Fogus not far behind at 21. Black also posted 20 digs to round out her solid night.

Panucci’s 15 kills help North Muskegon down Saugatuck

The North Muskegon volleyball team defeated Saugatuck Thursday night in four sets, winning 23-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-16.

Leading the offense for the Norse was Natalie Pannucci, who had 15 kills on the night. Allie Jensen also contributed with 10 kills of her own, while Jaley Schultz led in aces with three.

On defense, Schultz notched an impressive 20 digs with Pannucci and Jensen also putting up 13 to round out their solid nights.

Fia Lindsay led the team in blocks with two.

MCC falls to Aviation Academy in four sets

The Muskegon Catholic Central volleyball team fell short against West Michigan Aviation Academy Thursday night, winning the first set 25-19, then losing the next three 25-18, 25-16 and 25-16.

Leading the Crusaders on offense was Natalie Rich, who had five kills and three aces on the night. Also contributing were Lindsay Ladd and Clare LaVigne, who both had a team-leading six kills, while Ella Muskovin and Elana LaGuire tied Rich’s three aces. LaVigne also posted 14 assists.

On defense, Laguire and LaVigne led the team in digs with 16 and 14, respectively. Muskovin also added six.

The Crusaders are now 3-6 overall.

Reeths-Puffer starts conference play with an easy win over Big Reds

The Reeths-Puffer volleyball team roared into O-K Green conference play with an easy 3-0 victory over Muskegon on Thursday.

The set scores were 25-7, 25-11 and 25-8.

Madisyn Dykema led the Rockets with eight kills, Sophia Corradin had four kills, four aces and four digs, Lauren Nelson registered four kills and Allison McManus served up five aces.

The Rockets, now 4-3-2 overall, will compete in a tournament in Caledonia on Saturday.
