The Ravenna football team came out on top in a West Michigan Conference grind on Friday night, taking down Mason County Central 19-14.

Mason County Central held a 14-7 lead in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs came back for the win.
Ravenna struck first on an 85-yard touchdown pass from Blake Homoly to Nathan Kooiman early in the second quarter. The Spartans took an 8-7 lead after a 12-yard touchdown run by Peyton Merz with four minutes until halftime.

A touchdown pass from Will Chye to Landon Smith extended the lead to 14-7 in the third. Ravenna responded with a touchdown run by Hunter Hogan to make it 14-13.

The Bulldogs took the lead with 8:02 remaining on a touchdown pass from Hogan to Chase Thomas and held on for the 19-14 win.

Homoly was 3-for-3 for 92 yards passing, while Hogan was 3-for-6 for 51 yards. Hogan led the team with 99 rushing yards. Kooiman had 85 yards receiving, while Thomas had 55.

Defensively a handful of Bulldogs had a big night. Caleb Forsythe hauled in two interceptions and made five tackles, while Hogan also grabbed an interception. Derek Finlay totaled nine tackles and Juan Castro had eight.

Ravenna improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the WMC-Rivers, while Mason County Central falls to 1-4 and 1-2 in the WMC-Rivers.
