Orchard View hangs tough but ultimately falls 30-14 on the road to Manistee

For a moment Friday night, it felt like all the work Fred Rademacher and his young Cardinals team has put in was going to pay off. But it ultimately wasn’t to be, as Orchard View lost 30-14 to Manistee.

The Cardinals pulled within 16-14 in the fourth quarter, but Manistee was too much, ending the game on a 14-0 run.

After Manistee took an early lead, Enrique Gutierrez of Orchard View scored a rushing touchdown to put the Cardinals on the board. A successful two-point conversion made the score 8-8 heading into halftime.

Manistee had the lone score of the third quarter, but the Cardinals responded with a rushing touchdown by Bryce Bernard, making the Cardinal deficit 16-14 in the fourth quarter.

The Chippewas closed the game with two touchdowns to seal the win. Orchard View is now 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division.

Orchard View will play at home next Friday in a non-conference matchup against Muskegon Catholic Central.
