Muskegon Catholic surrenders late touchdown, falls 28-20 to Benton Harbor

 

 

A late touchdown was the difference for Muskegon Catholic on Friday in a hard fought 28-20 loss to Benton Harbor.

With 9:48 remaining in the game, a 50-yard touchdown pass from Bryan Convertini to Braden Gustin tied the game at 20-20.

Benton Harbor responded with 2:59 remaining in the game with a six-yard rushing touchdown and a successful two-point conversion.

Muskegon Catholic held a 7-0 lead after one quarter on a one-yard rushing touchdown from David Hill.

A second quarter Benton Harbor touchdown cut the Crusaders lead to 7-6 margin.

A five-yard touchdown run by Hill with 6:54 left in the third quarter put Muskegon Catholic ahead 14-6 before Benton Harbor ended the quarter on a 14-0 run however to take a 20-14 lead into the final quarter.

Hill led the Muskegon Catholic rushing attack with 72 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries while also catching three passes for 74 yards. Convertini finished 5-of-12 passing for 140 yards and a touchdown.

The Crusaders now 1-2 overall and will next travel to Fulton.
