The Muskegon Catholic football team made the long trip to I(llinois on Saturday and escaped with a narrow 7-6 victory over host Fulton.

The Crusader defense stood tall in the contest, holding Fulton to 73 yards rushing with five tackles for losses. MCC’s Bryan Convertini and Finn Maschini both intercepted a pass.

The Crusaders scored the only touchdown of the game about five minutes into the game when David Hill scored from a yard out.

Fulton was limited to a pair of field goals, in the second and fourth quarters.

Convertini led MCC in rushing with 92 yards on 15 carries. Hill had 71 yards on 15 carries while Chase Willer totaled 52 yards on five touches.

Hill led the Crusader defense with 10 tackles, Sam Kartes and Tim Railling added nine and Zach Michaels had seven. Andrew Rosema registered a sack.

MCC, now 2-2, will visit Orchard View next week.
