Ludington beats Fremont 7-0 in a low scoring West Michigan Conference battle of previously unbeaten teams

Defense was the name of the game in the Ludington-Fremont football game on Friday night, as the Orioles snuck past the Packers 7-0 on the road.

The Orioles sealed the game on a 12-yard touchdown run by Aidan Gilchrist early in the first quarter.

Trey Forfinski also contributed for Ludington, rushing for 83 yards on 13 attempts while Chase Hackert totaled 57 yards on 15 attempts.

Fremont’s Justin Dirheimer paced the Packers with 121 rushing yards on 25 attempts.

Hackert ended the night with 67 yards on 6-for-14 passing for the Orioles, while Fremont’s Kyler DeKuiper notched 32 yards on three completions.

Ludington, 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play, will meet up with Oakridge next week. Fremont, 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference, will play Grant.
