James Young lights it up for North Muskegon again with five TD passes in a 50-0 win over Hesperia

Sophomore quarterback James Young continued to dazzle on Friday night in North Muskegon’s 50-0 win over Hesperia in West Michigan Conference River Division action.

Young completed all 10 of his passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns in the convincing win.

The Norsemen opened the scoring with a 42-yard passing touchdown from Young to TJ Byard.

Young added a 58-yard passing touchdown pass to Byard with 9:47 remaining in the first quarter.

Sam Gallo forced a fumble and Drew Bartos returned it for a touchdown, putting the Norse up 22-0 with 9:29 still left in the first.

North Muskegon added another touchdown on a 10-yard passing touchdown from Young to Carsen Moat with five minutes remainingĀ in the first quarter.

The Norsemen added another score on a 24-yard touchdown run by Denny Belmonte and led 34-0 headed into the second quarter.

Young hit Talan Thompson with a 54-yard TD pass in the second quarter and the Norse led 40-0 at halftime.

The quarterback did it again with a 57-yard scoring pass to Moat in the third quarter. North Muskegon added a 42-yarf field goal in the fourth quarter to compete the scoring.

Belmonte had 38 yards rushing on five carriers and one touchdown. Byard had 136 yards receiving on three catches with two touchdowns. Moat added 67 yards receiving with two receptions and two touchdowns. Thompson gained 84 yards with two catches and one TD.

On defense, the Norsemen were led by Bartos with six tackles, Kyle Huff with four and Jacarri Edwards with three.

North Muskegon moves to 3-1 and 2-0 in conference play and will take on Hart next Friday at home.

Hesperia falls to 1-3 and 0-1 in conference play and will play Shelby at home next Friday. [1]
