North Muskegon continued its winning ways Friday night behind quarterback James Young.

The sophomore threw for 169 yards and four touchdowns on 11-of-19 passing in a 41-6 victory over Mason County Central.

The Norsemen opened the scoring with 5:50 remaining in the first quarter on a seven-yard pass from Young to TJ Byard to take a 6-0 lead.

North Muskegon added another score with 2:09 remaining in the first quarter on a 55-yard pass from Young to Byard to lead 12-0.

With 10:06 left in the second quarter, Young found Danny Belmonte for a 13-yard touchdown to make the score 18-0.

The Norsemen added to their lead on a 15-yard rushing touchdown from Belmonte and a successful two-point pass from Young to Carsen, taking a 26-0 lead with 2:26 remaining in the second quarter.

North Muskegon added another score on a 54-yard passing touchdown from Young to Alec Newville and another successful two-point pass from Young to Moat to take a 34-0 lead into halftime.

The Norsemen had the lone score of the third quarter on a 65-yard rushing touchdown by Belmonte. A successful extra point by Owen Boothe made the score 41-0.

Mason County Central had the lone score in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass from quarterback Will Chye for 27 yards.

Will Chye was 4-of-15 passing for 104 yards and one touchdown for MCC. Peyton Merz added 64 yards rushing on 19 carries.

Merz led Mason County Central on defense witf four tackles. Ethan Domin added three.

Belmonte led the Norse rushing attack with 134 yards and two touchdowns. He had two catches for nine yards and a TD.

Byard added 70 yards and two touchdowns receiving on three catches. Newville totaled 68 yards and one touchdown on two catches.

North Muskegon’s defense was led by Sam Gallo, who continued a stellar season with eight more tackles and two sacks. Kyle Huff added six tackles while Drew Bartos had four.

North Muskegon moves to 2-1 and 1-0 in conference play and plays next Friday at Hesperia. Mason County Central falls to 0-3 and 0-1 in conference play and will travel to Holton next Friday.
