The Ravenna football team improved to 2-1 on the season with a narrow 14-7 home victory over rival Montague in a West Michigan Conference crossover game on Thursday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, Hunter Hogan punched in a five-yard touchdown run to give Ravenna a 7-0 lead in the second quarter.

Montague struck back with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Chase Gowell to Owen Peterson and the score was tied 7-7 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Hogan once again found the end one, punching in a four-yard run to give the Bulldogs a 14-7 lead that held up the rest of the way.

Hogan led Ravenna with 100 yards rushing and one touchdown while also throwing for 90 yards on 6-for-15 passing. Drew Mabrito caught two passes for 26 yards. Hogan also led the defensive effort with nine tackles

Gowell completed 15 of 21 passes for 160 yards for Montague while Adam Baird finished with 78 yards rushing.

Petersen totaled 63 yards receiving and one touchdown on five catches.

Ravenna will visit Holton next week in a conference matchup while Montague will host Orchard View.
