Ludington quarterback Chase Hackert had a career night, leading the Orioles to a 55-7 victory over Shelby on Thursday in a West Michigan Conference crossover game.

Hackert completed all eight of his passes for 186 yards with two touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 139 yards and three touchdowns.

The scoring parade started a little over three minutes into the game when Aidan Gilchrist ran in a touchdown from five yards out and the PAT put Ludington up 7-0.

A little over a minute later Hackert threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Gilchrist and the Orioles led 13-0.

Hackert added a 55-yard TD run, giving the Orioles a 20-0 lead after one quarter.

Trey Forfinski had a two-year touchdown run early in the second quarter, then Hackert continued his theatrics, scoring on a 55-yard run, completing an 80-yard touchdown pass to Levi Laman, then adding a 40-yard TD run.

Ludington led 45-0 at halftime.

Shelby scored first in the third quarter, then Ludington answered with a 14-yard scoring burst by Daniel Rameriez and the Orioles were up 52-7 heading into the fourth.

Ludington’s Miles Wilson capped things off with a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Forfinski finished with 75 yards rushing for the Orioles. Laman caught two passes for 88 yards

The leading tacklers for Ludington were Luke Hackert and Nelson Kohlbe with four apiece. Jonny Weinert snagged an interception.
