The Muskegon Big Reds had a long ride home on Saturday after falling to powerful Warren De La Salle 49-16 on Friday at Lawrence Tech University.

De La Salle jumped out to a sizable lead 21-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Pilots padded their advantage with two touchdowns in the third quarter and one apiece in the second and the fourth.

Muskegon junior slot receiver Destin Piggee

Muskegon got touchdowns from Destin Piggee on an 81-yard burst and Wanyai Johson on a two-yard plunge. Adrian Velazquez kicked a 28-yard field goal.

Piggee rushed for 92 yards on eight carries while M’Khi Guy had 81 yards on eight carries. Piggee also caught five passes for 70 yards.

Julian Neely completed 5 of 8 passes for 84 yards.

Amariyan Glover, Mason Hunter, Darekeo Speech and Michael Piggee paced the Big Red defense with four tackles apiece.

Muskegon, now 1-1, will host Reeths-Puffer next Friday.
