Wednesday boys soccer roundup: Arturo Romero scores six goals to break team record and lead Oakridge to victory

Arturo Romero only needed nine games to break the Oakridge boys soccer team’s single-season record.

Romero netted all six goals for the Eagles, leading them to a 6-1 victory over Fremont on Wednesday.

He now has 28 goals on the year, breaking the record of 26 which was set by Travis Lucas.

Logan Hunt chipped in with two assists for Oakridge while Brayden Mahnke, Vance Cerchiori and Ian Thompson each added one helper.

Keegan Williamsen stopped 14-of-15 shots faced in net for the Eagles.

The Packers lone goal was scored by Gonzalo Garcia that was assisted by Justin Guanga.

The Eagles are now 7-1-1 on the season, while Fremont is now 2-4-1 overall.

Parker Wendt nets three goals for Ludington in a league victory over OV

The Orioles cruised to an 8-0 win over Orchard View in a West Michigan Conference game on Wednesday night.

Park Wendt paced Ludington with three goals, while Spencer Holmes added two goals. Reinhold Heinrich, Nathan Wagner and Ryan Kandalec each chipped in with a goal apiece.

The Orioles outshot Orchard View by a 15-1 margin as Ludington improved to 7-1-1 on the season, while the Cardinals fell to 1-5 overall.

Whitehall scores a pair of early goals, holds on to beat Shelby 3-1 in a league game

 The Whitehall boys soccer team earned a 3-1 West Michigan Conference win over Shelby on Wednesday night.

Corbin Vanderstelt scored two goals in the first 10 minutes into the contest, while Jace McKinley added a tally later in the contest.

Jack Houtteman and Jack McDowell each chipped in with an assist for the Vikings.

Whitehall’s goalkeeper Andon Palmer stopped 12 shots on net.

The Vikings improved to 2-2-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference play.
