The Ludington soccer team opened its season with a pair of wins Saturday, beating Fruitport and Gaylord. 

The Orioles picked up a 2-0 win over Fruitport. Spencer Holmes and Parker Wendt both scored for Ludington, while Steven Stidham had an assist. Connor Rudzki made three saves in the net.

Against Gaylord, Ludington picked up a 5-0 win. Stidham, Wendt, Nate Wagner, Yebe Boerema and Ryan Millspaugh each scored a goal. Holmes, Millspaugh and Connor Wendt each had an assist. Rudzki and Caleb Sheldon both made a save.

Hudsonville wins Unity Invitational

The Hudsonville soccer team picked up a pair of victories to win the Unity Invitational over the weekend. The Eagles beat West Michigan Aviation Academy 2-0 and Unity Christian 1-0.

Bailey VandenHeuvel and Josh Little both scored in the first game, while Henry Derrer scored the long goal in the championship game. Evan Burns recorded a clean sheet in both games. 

Oakridge goes 2-1

Oakridge went 2-1 at an invitational Saturday, beating Kelloggsville and Tri-County. The Eagles lost to Thornapple Kellogg 2-0.

In a 3-2 win over Kelloggsville, Arturo Romero provided all the office, netting a hat trick. Keegan Williamsen made seven saves. 

Romero scored another hat trick in a 5-0 win over Tri-County. Isaac Utzinger and Vance Cerchiori both scored as well. Cerchiori, Zach Maitner, Logan Hunt, Brayden Mahnke and Isaac Barber each had an assist. 

Williamsen made two saves against Tri-County, and had nine against Thornapple Kellogg. 

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 4, NORTH MUSKEGON 1 — Ashton Leffring scored a pair of goals to lead the Warriors to a win Monday. Gavin Riksen and Isaac Luna both added a goal as well. Tekalegn Vlasma had an assist. 

Chase Kiel had North Muskegon’s goal.
