Dan VanderPloeg scored two goals on Tuesday, leading the Mona Shores soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Holland in the first game of O-K Green conference play.

The Sailors led 2-0 by halftime, following goals by Abe Freve and VanderPloeg.

Vincenzo Padilla added a goal on a hard shot in the second half, then VanderPloeg scored again, putting the victory ice for the Sailors.

Dylan Brady and Kaden Semlow shared time in goal for Mona Shores,

Kaden Pulaski, Antonio Lewis, and Gavyn Stout were credited for strong performances.

Ludington loses its first game of the season

The Orioles lost their first game of the season, 1-0 to Petoskey, in a tight non-conference matchup.

Petoskey scored the game’s only goal with two seconds remaining in the first half.

The Orioles, now 6-1-1 on the season, managed nine shots on goal but couldn’t get one to go in.

Fremont falls to Cedar Springs

The Packers fell 8-0 to the Redhawks in non-conferenced action.

Connor Hunt scored four goals for Cedar Springs, and the winners had a 25-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Goalie Ben Mellema had a busy night in net for the Packers, stopping 12 shots, while Caleb Vissia came in and stopped five.
