The Orchard View girls soccer team earned a shot at a district championship with a 2-0 victory over Shelby on Wednesday in a Division 3 semifinal matchup at Montague High School.

The Cardinals scored both of their goals in the first half. Aleya Jones got the first one off a corner kick, then Nazalia Mendiola scored with an assist from Kylee Carmean midway through the first half.

Orchard View played shutdown defense against the Tigers, with Skyler Rowell, Brooklyn Gould, Tania Furlough and Nari Watson getting credit for their play on the back end.

The Cardinals will meet Newaygo on Friday at 6 p.m. at Montague in the district title game.
