The Muskegon Catholic Central baseball team jumped out to a big lead early and cruised to an 8-1 victory over White Cloud on Thursday in a Division 4 regional semifinal game at Holton High School.

The Crusaders jumped all over the Indians in the first inning, scoring seven runs, and led 7-1 going into the second. Dewey Modaff, Sam Convertini and Bryan Convertini had big hits for the Crusaders in the first inning.

Modaff finished the game with two hits and two RBIs and scored two runs. Sam Convertini, Bryan Convertini, Croix Klint and Vince Szymanski also knocked in runs for MCC.

Sam Convertini, Modaff and Owen Lyonnais combined to pitch a three-hitter for the Crusaders.

Muskegon Catholic Central, now 17-13 on the season, now advances to the regional finals on Saturday against Dansville at 12:30 p.m. at Midland Dow High School.
