The Muskegon Catholic Central baseball team won a Division 4 regional championship on Saturday before ending its season with a loss to Beal City in the state quarterfinal round later in the day.

The Crusaders clinched the regional title by beating Dansville 15-12 in wild game. MCC scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally and secure the victory. Vince Szymanski had a big game at the plate with three hits and three RBIs while scoring three runs. Dewey Modaff had two hits, Sam Convertini had a double and three RBIs and Sam Kartes had a two-run triple.

The Crusaders’ season ended with an 11-6 loss later in the day to Beal City, the top-ranked team in the state.

Beal City jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. MCC clawed back with two runs in the fourth inning on consecutive hits ty Braden Gustin, Modaff and Sam Convertini. The Crusaders scored three more runs in the fifth inning to tie the game 5-5, behind a double by Bryan Convertini and RBI singles by Modall and Croix Klint.

Beal City responded with three runs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh to secure the win. MCC got one more run in the sixth inning on an RBI hit by Bryan Convertini.

Modaff finished with two hits in the game while Klint and Bryan Convertini each finished with two RBIs.

MCC finished the season with an 18-4 record and Division 4 district and regional championships.
