Konecny hits two homers and ties school’s single-season record in Mona Shores’ 11-0 win over Spring Lake

The Mona Shores baseball team had a record-setting game in an 11-0 win over Spring Lake on Tuesday in the regular-season finale.

Senior Mark Konecny had the biggest day for the Sailors, hitting two home runs and tying the team’s single-season record with nine. He is currently tied with Eric Posthumas (2000) and Dave Beck (1988).

Jaxon Huffman hit his eighth home run of the season, a three-run blast, to put him just one away from also tying the single-season record.

Huffman also pitched the win, improving his record to 11-0 on the season. Jason Anderson and Bryson Belanger helped complete the no-hit shutout in relief.

Aaron Piasecki had two hits for Mona Shores and sophomore Jaden Thomas collected the first hit of his varsity career.

The Sailors are now 30-4 on the season. The 30 wins ties an all-time team record which was matched by Mona Shores in 1982 and 1999.

Mona Shores will play Reeths-Puffer at noon on Saturday in the first game of districts, with the winner advancing to the title game later in the day.
