The Montague baseball team took both games of a non-conference doubleheader with Big Rapids Wednesday night, as the Wildcats won 15-3 and 10-0, respectively.
Chase Gowell led the Wildcats with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Colton Blankstrom had two hits and an RBI in the opener.
Tugg Nichols and Aidan Buchberger added two RBIs and three runs scored each.
In Game 2, Hayden McDonald posted two hits and two RBIs to lead Montague, while Buchberger doubled and scored two runs. Blankstrom also contributed with four RBIs.
Kade Johnson won the opener from the mound while Blankstrom tossed a shutout in the nightcap, striking out eight batters.
Montague improves to 10-6 overall.
Kent City takes two games from Lakeview in a Wednesday doubleheader
The Kent City baseball team won both of their games of a doubleheader on Wednesday against Lakeview.
The Eagles won the opener 15-5 before completing the sweep in the nightcap by an 8-2 margin.
Ryan McCuaig led Kent City with three hits and seven RBIs in Game 1, while Kyler Larson, Webb Longcore and Zane Kik each added two hits apiece.
McCuaig pitched the victory in Game 2, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six batters in seven innings.
Larson and Justin Mack each had two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles, while Ryan Darling added two hits and an RBI.
The Eagles are now 8-3 on the season and 7-1 in conference play.
