The Mona Shores baseball team clinched at least a share of the OK Green Conference title with a 4-1 win over Holland on Thursday. Mona Shores is now 17-1 in conference play.

Along with securing a league crown, Sailor Aaron Piasecki broke the school record for stolen bases in a single season. Piasecki swiped two bags, giving him an even 40 for the year. The previous record belonged to Dennis Winicki, who stole 39 bases in 1990.

Piasecki finished Thursday’s game with three hits and four RBI. Mason Brunworth had a hit, a walk and scored twice.

Jaxon Huffman picked up the win on the mound, allowing one unearned run in seven innings while striking out 15.

Mona Shores is 26-4 overall this season.

Western Michigan Christian takes non-conference tilt

The Warriors earned a non conference victory over Calvin Christian 11-5.

Alex Wagonmaker earned the win on the mound, going six innings. He allowed four earned runs on 12 hits. Sam Liggett and Sam Sipe led the attack offensively with two hits and two RBIs a piece, while Caleb McKay grabbed a pair of knocks in the contest. 

With the win, the Warriors improve to 14-6 overall and 10-1 in Lakes 8 Conference play. 

Crusaders blow past Orchard View

Muskegon Catholic Central picked up a big win over Orchard View in Lakes 8 action Thursday, winning 17-2.

Dewey Modaff earned the win on the mound, going six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out nine. Modaff continued his great evening at the plate, picking up three hits and three RBIs. Bryan Convertini picked up two hits and three RBIs, while Braden Gustin and Sam Convertini picked up a pair of hits each. 

With the win, the Crusaders improve to 11-10 overall. 

Puffer sweeps North Muskegon

The Reeths-Puffer baseball team took two wins against North Muskegon in non-league action Thursday night. The Rockets one by scores of 11-6 and 12-8.

Jett Boersema led the way in the opener with three hits, including his first home run of the season. Kaden Edwards added two hits, while Alex Johnson had a triple.

Edwards was the driving force offensively in Game 2. The senior collected four hits, including the 100th of his career.

Brody Panozzo pitched the opener for the Rockets, while Jaxson Whitaker was on the mound for Game 2.

Fruitport wins OK Blue game

The Trojans took the third game of a series with Allendale Thursday night, winning 5-3.

Ryan Bosch started the game for the Trojans, going 5 ⅓ innings, allowing an earned run on two hits while striking out nine. Cody Matuz led the Trojans offensively with two hits and two RBIs, while Aiden Vela, Gavin Reames, Brady French, and Andrew Spyke recorded a hit each.

Whitehall sweeps Grant in non-league action

The Vikings won by scores of 12-3 and 9-5 to improve to 13-17 on the season.

Isaac VanAmberg got the win in the opener, coming one out shy of a complete game. He struck out 10 and allowed three runs.

Ryne Christensen led the way at the plate, collecting a double, a triple and four RBIs. Jaden Brinkert and Brendan Schmehil both had two hits, while Noah Meinert had a hit and drove in two.

Brinkert started on the mound in Game 2 and three 2 ⅓ innings. Jack McDowell got the win in relief, allowing one run over 3 ⅓ innings of work. 

Taryn Hardy led the offense with a pair of hits and three RBIs. He also recorded the last four outs on the mound.

Christensen, Maddox Varela and Kyle Stratton each had two hits in the nightcap.
